Last night, our board approved statements on diversity and inclusion. These took much thought, work and input from all members, who are committed to the words and the action behind them. We deeply appreciate all.
CNY Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance
Statements re Diversity & Inclusion
This is not a time for soft language. Institutionalized racism continues to permeate every aspect of American life, and now our country is at a tipping point. The board of the CNY Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance stands in solidarity with our BIPOC* community members to combat inequality and discrimination in all forms as we focus on the challenges of tick-borne disease. In response to the recent and ongoing national dialogue about racism, particularly Black Lives Matter, the Alliance seeks to be on the forefront of that critical work, shifting the landscape significantly as we address disparities in healthcare. Rather than incremental change, we seek bold action.
With a collective, consistent, strong commitment to confronting racism, our board adopted the following statement on August 13, 2020.
Diversity and Inclusion Statement
Since our inception, the Central New York Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance subscribes to these fundamental principles:
- Diversity and inclusion are foundational to the Alliance.
- We work to address the deep disparities in healthcare.
This is how we act intentionally as a board and operate as an organization: in board membership; in thought, discussion and decision-making; in educational programming; in grants we seek.
